Tip for walkers
Start from Hotel Tiroler Adler and climb Wolfskofel (2.050 m)
Wolfskofel Mountain lies at the tail end of the south-eastern spine of the Schwarzenstein mountain range, and is widely regarded as Luttach’s “local mountain”. It’s an excellent mountain to climb if you enjoy good views. In particular, it offers spectacular views over Grosser Löffler, Schwarzenstein and, of course, the Zillertal Alps. Wolfkofel also features a rather special geological anomaly: the summit is formed of light limestone and Dolomite rock. The climb to the top of Wolfkofel is challenging. Shortly before you reach the summit, there is a section with steel ropes. Do not attempt this climb unless you are steady on your feet and unafraid of heights!
Selected places of interest
Schwarzbach waterfall: Schwarzbach Waterfall is located within the privately owned grounds of our hotel, and is just a ten minute walk from the main building. The water of Schwarzenbach river rushes through a narrow cleft of rock and plummets 15 metres into a blue lagoon below. This is a very special place with enchanting light refractions and a refreshing microclimate. In the evenings, the waterfall is illuminated with atmospheric lighting.
The Anthric caves: discover Luttach’s mysterious “Anthric caves” which are shrouded in legend! A dialect word used only in this area, “anthrisch” is related to the Italian word “antro” (cave) but has connotations of “dark”, “mysterious”, “mystical”, and also of “sinister” and “hidden”. A local cultural project is currently being planned to investigate the Anthric caves.
